Dev(il)Con: The Saga Continues...

New information on the Jarle vs. DevCon front: it looks like the "DevCon Speaker's Fund" was successful in collecting the $1250 to enable Chris MacGregor to speak on the conference. Still Jarle is not satisfied with the overall situation and has posted a followup on his site which has spun into a discussion with Macromedia's John Dowdell and Mike Chambers.

I would love to hear that other people think about the situation. Am I alone in thinking that its not fair to expect people to work basically for free - and having to pay there way - to be speakers as such an event? Especially when its a venue that is created to push Macromedia products and make them money.

No, Jarle, you are definitely not alone - I completely agree with your standpoint. Especially after Mike's statement: "We are not holding devcon to just break even. surely you must understand this, especially in this economic climate."
