October 19, 2002 is the magic number

The good news is: Macromedia takes care to solve all remaining issues with the current Flash plugin and starts a new beta round with version The good news is also that there is now a linux version, increased Netscape compatibility and faster Actionscript execution just to name a few of the new features. More good news is that Macromedia encourages you to find bugs in this beta version by giving some cool prices to the best two bug finders:

- One copy of the Macromedia Studio MX, or
- A Microsoft XBox, or
- A Sony PlayStation 2

The bad news is that if you want to use all these new features you can actually expect a plugin penetration rate of something like 1% compared to the >50% which the "generic" Flash 6 plugin has.
