Page Turn Sourcecode

As tomorrow is St. Nicholas Day here is the completely chaotic and undocumented source code for my scripted page turn demo. Please do not expect me to explain how it works. But if you find out yourself and are able to improve it I would be more than happy if you tell me.

In the source file the page goes beyond where should stop and I am wondering if there is a special action code that could stop it cause your scripted page turn link it does not do that. Please e-mail me at

Somebody knows the way to make a similar effect but in vertical, likes
they do in web or indicates some source code that makes something similar to be able to study.

Many thanks

I was able to develop PnP page peel through masking. The masking part was not really scripting. but the positioning of the physical mask was.

I used two physical mask to create the effect.

i HAVE TO SAY, THIS IS VERY IMPRESSIVE. i did a similar thing for nikewoman and that took me 3 weeks to build. This is by far so much better.
Nice one son!!

Thanks for giving us the code as well....

you can find the source code and a fully working MX version at this address

good effect !!! and cool

Another real cool example of someone using a page turn effect is at this URL.
Select on of the catalogs and see how it works. Some examples of their flash file only flips the page edge but beautiful none the less.
Nice Code.

am just a beginner in flash, faranklincovey is nothing to compare with the quasimondo page turn effect

Im willing to buy some good source code or component. Please send me notice to my email

Posted by: Edwin Merced on December 21, 2003 02:54 PM

one of the best page turns ever seen
better than using applets for the same effects

Posted by: umakaredla on December 30, 2003 08:58 PM

This is just great. It would have been cooler if it loads image and related content dynamically and works with onclick events like going prev. and next.

Anyway its great and thanks for the code. If anyone has a better code please do send me..

after your idea, i have coded a pageflip inteface. It is like your's, but it has completly different code.
You can drag the page everywhere, and no repeated pages:)

I'm quite interested in creating an online catalogue using page flipping. Please add me to your list of email recipients for basic source code.
Thank you very much; what I've see is very impressive!

I'm really diggin' the page turn. It's AWESOME!!

Posted by: Blas on March 12, 2004 07:38 PM

This is exactly what I've been looking for, for years!!!! I'm currently a Spanish teachers who loves to intergrate technology with the students in the classroom. Every year we go through the monumental task of publishing hardbound books created by the students in Spanish and English. For years I've been looking and searching for a way to create a digital book with the same effect as the page turn effect used here. I've used Power Point Presentations with simple effects for transitions from one page to the next, the same with the Front Page, the transitions used out there are quite primitive. Even java script page flips are primitive compared to this AWESOME effect. My goal is to have my students show this effect with the pages of the children's books they write and illustrate. If you can help me at all whatsoever I would Love your help. Is there any way you or anyone out there can explain to me the process I have to take to create the students' children's books digitally with this page flip effect and at the same time add sound to it in order to have to students read their book as the pages turn with their voices recorded into the pages of the book, so that when one clicks on the book, the children's story is told interactively to the listener; making the students illustrators, writers and narrators at the same time and coming up with an out of this world final project. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease help!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everybody,

I'm very impressed by the quality of the pageturn effect. I would like to use it for a dynamic photo gallery. The problem is I am a beginer in flash. Is it possible to load the images while turning the book pages? In fact, the best would be to do request to a MySQL database to get the file names and descriptions of the images to be loaded in the book. Is it possible to do that in Flash or should I generate XML file with PHP?

Thaks for your help and congratulations for the work done with the pageturn effect, it's amazing

Posted by: mokshu on December 26, 2004 12:36 AM

I'm very astounded with the page flip effect that you've done and I can see how complex it is because I'm also doing some page flip flash effect experiments on my own for my school project. Do you think it will suitable for online magazine? Have you ever expecting an online magazine that have the same experience when you read printed magazine? This flipping pages can be a good example that can be applied in magazine, I think. I got few questions regarding the online magazine, pleaseee help me to give some feedback. When you read online magazine, do you like to read it like a website, or like a real print magazine? Why?
Thank you so much...

@Michiko: check out the comment on this page: - there you will find some examples of magazines realized with page flips.

and would like to know how I can add sound, print and zoom function

can you please let me know if this is possible and how to go about adding this functions

Posted by: naz on March 25, 2005 12:52 AM

he there...

I used the pageflip engine to make a site for WE (a clothing company). They loved it. There's still the size-bug (earlier discussed), but I'm planning on taking it out a.s.a.p. It's online anyway....

Great work!
I am just wondering if page turn effect is possible to be coded in java script? I am just assuming the manipulation of co-ordinates would be the same as for algorythm right?

I am looking for java script code, on mouse click a picture will be turned over instead of page. Similar to image slide show but with effect of turning the picture just like a page.

Or more interesting would be to give four co-ordinates of/within the browser (within which could be a picture or simply text, or background image) on mouse click it would be turned over.

If you have any idea if this is possible with java script or others, I would appreciate.

WOW! I'm totally amazed at what I've seen here today, I've been tinkering with this a while now but sadly i tend to get distracted a lot :( I dont really have a problem with inserting my own content into the embedded movies etc but whats really puzzling me is resizing the whole thing, what i really want to do is use some of the brilliant examples provided (and theyre all brilliant) and resize them to about 600x450 or so, but even when i resize the masks it still looks terrible, is there any quick solution to this or do i have to go through a whole trial and error process? (i know i shouldnt be complaining as im getting the script for free lol)

Any help here would be really appreciated

Posted by: Aliagtor on May 6, 2005 09:38 PM

Actually i should have said earlier, on the original script (up the top of this screen) how is it that there is only the function to go to a previous page on the last couple of pages? im quite new to actionscripting, ive built some basic sites but this is way out of my league.

Thanks again

Posted by: Aliagtor on May 6, 2005 09:41 PM

I am trying to load then reload the book and it isnt working when reloading...
apparantly i have to do something with the mouse listener.
Can anyone help me?

Hello, does somebody know if there is a version of Page Turn with the option for going directly to one of the pages in the book?

For example, next to the book you see the numbering of the pages, 1, 2, 3, 4 ..etc.
Clicking on the 3 will leed you directly to page 3.

I'm busy with a book with many many pages, so I hope there is a code wich makes this possible.

Have anyone gotten this to work in Flash 8? If so, what changes do i have to make to get it to work?
