WACK 1.0

Uh uh - I just checked back and must discover that more than two months have passed since I announced that we would release WACK our "Window Application Control Kit" component "very soon". Okay somehow there was so much other work in between that we didn't have time to do make that finessing touches.

But finally we are able to announce WACK v1.0. You can download it here. So what is it? To make it short - it is a flash component that allows you create applications with multiple windows. It takes care for all that dragging, focussing, resizing, scrolling etc. that happens with these things. Of course you can adjust the looks and behaviors, too.

I have looked around and you can hit me if I'm wrong, but until now I haven't found another windows component that is as flexible as WACK. Of course there is FlashOS2 by Grant Skinner, but unfortunately that's not yet available for free...

We will extend it depending on your feedback and what we feel might be useful. So if you have any feedback, bug reports or wishes feel free to use our forum.

Mario :: It looks great and I really am impressed with the presentation. Unfortunately, the .mxp is invalid by some part in the process. For your information I am on OSX Jaguar and tried in IE and Safari and tried saving the .mxp in several ways.

Can't wait to look at the work and it's appreciated.

I just downloaded this and it looks quite slick. One question though...

Is there any specific reasoning behind why the component allows resizing of a window even when it's minimized? At first I thought it was a bug, but realized that the behavior is consistent (as well as what happens if you do resize a window and move it while minimized, then maximize it), so I thought I'd ask.

Thanks for sharing your code! Very nice.

How do you make the canvas 100% wide and 100% high, then load your WACK - based interface in and keep your loaded movies from scaling?

Usually that's done with:

Stage.scaleMode="noScale"

This will keep scaling to 100% and adjust the canvas size.

Thanks - that worked perfectly!

One more thing is keeping me from using WACK like I want to. I'm having trouble accessing components inside WACK windows. Can you take a peek at my post on the WACK support forums and let me know if there's a solution for this?

Thanks again in advance,

Please provide some code to do the same?
Thanks in advance
