As a lot of blogs already mentioned yesterday Aral Balkan's blog onRelease is closed down. My first thought was "finally they have hacked his site" - as we all know Aral has created quite a lot of discussion in the community by "contaminating" or "enriching" blog aggregators with his personal blend of political views and flash content. And it turns out that politics are the reason for him to stop blogging:
Aral: "I just got sick of the site having become a watering hole for rednecks and
warmongers... I'm not fed up with Flash! :)
I'm sure the site will be back in some fashion at some point but it will
probably not be open to all and it will be related to Flash. It will
probably be released under an ethical license...
As for me, I'm going to be getting more involved with politics... perhaps at
a local level and working to change things. And, of course, I have some very
interesting Flash projects in the works..."
Aral, I wish you good luck for the future and hope that we'll see the new onRelease coming soon again.Posted at May 20, 2003 11:19 AM | Further reading
