Flickr Search by Sketch: Retrievr

System One have created Retrievr an impressing tool that allows you to draw a raw sketch and then retrieve those images from Flickr that have the highest similarity. Those who want to know what happens behind the scenes should have a look at the research paper of Chuck Jacobs, Adam Finkelstein and David Salesin from the University of Washington: Fast Multiresolution Image Querying.

It's really cool, althougth probably there aren't so many contexts where it is also practical/useful ;) Instead of drawing probably it would be useful as enhancement for flickr, kind of "similar images" button, starting so straight from an image (or a webcam input).
