Flash 8: Pirate Map Generator
Yesterday I was asked if the blotting paper algorithm could also be used to create the look of paper with scorched edges. Well, as this is something a seasoned webdesigner needs on a daily basis I gave it a quick try. And indeed it's possible - though it takes one or two seconds to render, so don't try this in realtime.
Here's a little treasure map paper generator which will create a range of randomly scorched edges. Press any key to create a different version (as usual - click the Flash file once to focus it).
BTW - for colorizing the map I'm using my ColorMap gradient generator class in concert with the paletteMap method, so even if you don't need a pirate map, you might need a smooth color palette someday.
