Free Flash Conference Anybody (yes, as in free beer)?

Yes, you read correctly. Free. Multi-Mania 08 is a one day, five(!) track Flash + multimedia conference taking place in the beautiful small town Kortrijk, Belgium on Friday, May 23rd 2008.

Koen De Weggheleire has once more managed to gather a hot lineup of more than 30 top-notch presenters - among them Aral Balkan, Peter Elst, Dave Schroeder, Ralph Hauwert, Rob Chiu and Hoss Gifford, just to name a few. I, too, have the big pleasure to speak there for the second year in a row and I'm really looking forward to it, especially after Koen told me that my session is already full (attendees can prereserve seats online) - but don't worry there's always the chance that someone gets hit by a bus an overdose of belgium beer and decides to pass on his seat.

You can register for your free ticket here. See you in Kortrijk.

Hi Mario, it was fun hanging out at multi-mania!
I already had access to the Aviary beta, but I have trouble finding the smart quil-ting feature you showed. Is it in there already?

PS: Interesting filter on the comments here! "Your comment could not be submitted due to questionable content: q u i l t i n g". I guess that term has meanings far beyond our imagination...

Hi Michiel,

oh yes, actually the Image Quilting and AutoPaint are not yet available in the version which is online. As well as the "Pause" and "Render Selection" options. "Coming Soon" :-)

Yes my comment spam filter can be annoyingly strict sometimes. This blog getting bombarded by 100 spam attacks each hour so I had to take drastic measures. But I've just removed the "quilting" keyword - no idea when then got in.

Okay looking forward to it!
As for spam, I know what you mean. I've got a database somewhere filling up with guestbook spam that I don't even dare look at anymore...

Please do not consider this spam. This is for a important cause. I am posting this on as many sites as I can. Please tell your friends to come too! I will be putting up a petition soon.

Not subscriptions, not ANY form of paid accounts, twitter this is WRONG and you will drive away a lot of users. Join this group to protest against Twitter's proposals of paid accounts. We urge Twitter to advertise on their site rather than charge users to use it.

Twitter's servers are already cracking under the strain of the traffic they get. Who would want to pay for something that is slow & goes down all the time. What will they give us, a 'premium failwhale'?

Recent news is that b/c of a spammer, twitter is coming out this summer with premium accounts that will cost money. One of the best things about twitter, is that it's free to tweet! I for one will not pay, join in my group if you won't either!
